Cookie Monster was captured speeding on a traffic camera in Germany. The incident occurred at a Dortmund intersection and has sparked both amusement and concern among authorities.
The driver, whose identity remains unknown, was clocked going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. The combination of the excessive speed and the playful costume led police to believe that the stunt might have been a deliberate attempt to gain attention. However, authorities quickly emphasized that such behavior is no laughing matter.
“It won’t help the relatives of a person who has been killed if the person who did it tearfully regrets their mask fun in court,” said police spokesman Peter Bandermann. The driver faces a $50 fine for the speeding violation.
This isn’t the first time Cookie Monster has caused a stir. In 2023, a man dressed as the character was reported to be harassing people in Santa Cruz, California. He was accused of yelling obscenities, taunting locals, and even demanding payment for photos with children. Police advised residents to avoid engaging with the individual.
While the recent incident in Germany may seem like a harmless prank, it serves as a reminder that even seemingly innocent actions can have serious consequences. As authorities continue to investigate the Cookie Monster’s speeding escapade, it remains to be seen whether the driver will face any additional charges.
