A 33-year-old man in Heerenveen, Netherlands, learned a harsh lesson about the perils of post-breakup behavior. After his year-long relationship with his ex-partner ended, he decided to take things to a whole new level of creepy. Instead of sending flowers or a heartfelt apology, he opted for something a bit more… unconventional.
He had himself delivered to her house in a box. Yes, you read that right. A box. Apparently, he told the magistrate that having himself delivered was “the only way to get in and get my stuff back”.
When he finally emerged from his cardboard cocoon, things took a turn for the worse. According to the woman, he pulled out a gun and threatened her. He then made off with the keys to her house, leaving her horrified and confused.
After the ‘special delivery’ incident, the woman installed surveillance video which captured the man returning to her house multiple times.
The man’s defense? He claimed the woman had given him permission to visit and that she had given him the keys. But the judge wasn’t buying it. He sentenced the man to four months in jail and slapped him with a three-year restraining order.
So, next time you’re feeling a little miffed about a breakup, remember: don’t have yourself delivered in a box. It’s probably not the best way to win back your ex’s heart.
